‘Duchamp’s Urinal’ returns to BBC Radio 4

11 May, 2017

To celebrate – maybe – last week’s centenary of Marcel Duchamp’s notorious ‘Fountain’, the BBC are replaying ‘Duchamp’s Urinal’ on Thursday 18th May at 2.15pm. I imagine it’ll be available to listen on the iPlayer around that time too.

I co-wrote ‘Duchamp’s Urinal’ with the magnificent Al Smith, and feature in it as a pretentious art historian, barely able to maintain control over his subject. Yes, it was a stretch.

‘Duchamp’s Urinal’ stars Samuel Barnett (‘The History Boys’, ‘Twenty Twelve’) and Finn den Hertog (‘Outlander’) among other excellent actors, and traces the story of Duchamp’s subversive act and its repercussions from 1917 to the present day. It’s a comedy, for the most part.

Hope you enjoy it, and please share with anyone you think might find it appealing.
